Hotel del Coronado

When this premiere historic destination replaced their old parking system, they purchased a Secom system with advanced functionality and features that tightened the revenue controls, provided a high level of reporting and audit trail, and built to complement their environment. They issued access cards designed to expire every 30 days to taxis and independent shuttles. Cards would be reactivated monthly if the drivers and their vehicles proved to meet the resort’s high standards. Employees and club member also received new proximity access cards.

The valet system includes a dual ticket dispenser, issuing one two-part blue ticket for visitors and one four-part white ticket for over-night guests. To enter any of the three gated surface lots the valet inserts one portion of the bar-coded ticket into the ticket reader and the adjacent card reader ‘links’ the valet’s wristband key fob. Lost keys? Damaged vehicle? It is easy to determine who last parked the vehicle. The dual ticket dispenser was fabricated in Secom’s wood shop and designed to complement the resort’s surroundings. Whether self-park or valet, overnight guests present their portion of the ticket to the desk clerk to assign in and out privileges for their length of stay.

Validations are handled with on-line validators in key busy areas, such as the restaurants, front desk, spa & receiving dock and with validation coupons at the many shops and executive offices. Merchant accounts are charged back the amount validated. The West lot has a pay-on-foot station for all beach going visitors and non-overnight guest.
